Irregular plurals
New wiki page. Interesting reading (IMO) and good for the word knowledge too.

You ARE using the word 'interesting' in the loosest possible way?

Re: Irregular plurals
Certainly an interesting and useful page, but aren't the following typos, or am I missing something?

Re: Irregular plurals
And do added -EN plurals count as irregular (OXEN but not OXES)? Or does its ancestry classify it as regular?Gavin Chipper wrote:IM is purely added?

Yep. Like CHERUB -> CHERUBIM.Gavin Chipper wrote:IM is purely added?
It's not (yet) a comprehensive list of irregular plurals (eg no CHILD -> CHILDREN), but rather plurals from "regularities within the irregularities" as it were. I'm working on extending it but it might be difficult to catch all of them.Brian Moore wrote:And do added -EN plurals count as irregular (OXEN but not OXES)? Re: Irregular plurals
Nice list. Presumably RADIUSES is good then! I wouldn't have realised that.
And I suspect that LITHIA is lithium oxide, not the plural of LITHIUM, although I don't have a dictionary with me to check.

Indeed. There are probably a few of these which I'll try to filter out over the weekend.Matt Bayfield wrote:And I suspect that LITHIA is lithium oxide, not the plural of LITHIUM, although I don't have a dictionary with me to check.
