Spoilers For Tuesday October 13th 2009

Post by James Robinson »

Well, Steve has joined Jacqueline, Paul & Bob on 5 wins. So we have 4 octochamps and 4 pentachamps currently.

Hopefully win number 6 will be achieved today, but with 3 people already failed on 5, is the curse of the 6th show about to strike again :!: :?: :?

Saw this one live in the studio. All I can say is, get ready for a classic. Steve's opponent got well drunk before he went on and loads of shit went down. I hope they kept it all in the recording.

Birdies as a nice DC equaller in round one.

Got excited thinking openplan might be one word for round four, but evidently not.

It's not a DC equaller as they got 8 - OVERBIDS

Okay who's actually heard of that word in the tea time teaser?

It's not even in CSW (Scrabble's dictionary) which has just the 200,000 words or so.

Steve is living very dangerously - his opponent threw it away there at the end which was a shame.

Well you've heard of it now. Bet it appears on Apterous pretty soon as a winning word.

As for the CSW, 200,000 words, most of which were invented / researched purely to give Scrabblers a way of offloading their difficult letters.

Let's face it Craig, Scrabble in its present form absolutely sucks. Until there is a World Championship where everyone plays duplicate Scrabble and doesnt rely on picking out the best letters, i can never take it seriously.

Haha Sue, that tickled me and I laughed at the screen - silly old sod!
....and no, I hadn't heard of it either, not even in an Indian restaurant. :D

I don't claim to have much fashion sense but Rachel's outfit looked like it had been rescued from a shredder. Anyone with me on this?

It was odd - like she'd got her bra on the outside.

Scrabble does accept the alternative spellings CHAPRASSI or CHUPRASSY.

By the way, when discussing POLLEN,Susie said she thought "the bee's knees" was an arbitrary invention, but surely it's just a jokey mispronunciation of "the business"? :P

My brain switched off momentarily at the end of the round where Steve offered DUNGIEST (which I had written down too) Did the word DUSTINGS get discussed and accepted by any chance? You can give something a dusting so surely you can give it two dustings.

I have virtually no fashion sense either, Alec. Me and my mum watched the show and she definitely thought there was something odd about it. Definitely her worst outfit in the "new" collection.

No, but DUSTING was given, so does seem odd that DUSTINGS wasn't mentioned, if it's there. I was actually waiting for someone to add NUDISTS into the discussion with DISGUST.

I wanted to paint eyelashes and eyes onto it.

Not really, you're a bloke, and what we know about womens fashion you could write on the inside of a gnats foreskin with a toilet brush.

I'll take a bet your are about as fashionable as root canal minus the anaesthetic.

Haha, Damian's quite clearly taken a new tack now. Instead of letting whingers wind him up and make him feel like leaving the board, he has decided to become the main antagonist himself. It certainly seems to be working so far. ;)

I reckon it's piles. Apparently they make people really grouchy.
