COLEI2 games

I thought I'd start the thread where you can post the games you were perhaps proud of or just wanted to share with other people to take part in.
I will start by posting the final which was a 15 rounder between the players who finished positions 1 and 2 (both on 3 wins out of 3). We tossed off, so to speak, and I won the toss and, playing Jono, I decided to sit in the challenger's chair.
Countdown recap for Saturday 10 October 2009 at COLEI2.
C1: Champion Jon O'Neill (3 wins)

Round 3: N C H E O E N U L
C1: LUNCHEON (8)
C2: COHUNE (6)
Score: 23–15 (max 23)
A good spot in my opinion to go 8 ahead. Turns out that nearly half the room spotted it.
Round 4: S N C E E E E E S
C1: ESSENCE (7)
C2: SCENES (6)
DC: SENESCE (7)
Score: 30–15 (max 30)
Now this was a good spot - I almost swore SCENES was the max and pretty much stopped looking. 5 Es, I mean, what!?
Round 5: 100, 50, 75, 25, 2, 8. Target: 608.
C1: 608. ((2x25/50)+75)x8 (10)
C2: 608. (2x100x75/25)+8 (10)
Score: 40–25 (max 40)
Luckily for me Jono's choice of 4 large was pretty straightforward.
Round 6: L R D A E E L E U
C1: ALLURED (7)

Round 9: S N S A E A V E Q
C1: SEVENS (6)
C2: SEVENS (6)
OT: AVENSES (7)
Score: 69–54 (max 70)
And Jono's max game is off. Unlucky.
Round 10: 75, 8, 3, 9, 1, 2. Target: 195.
C1: 195. (3x2+9)x8+75 (10)
C2: 195. (3+2+1+9)x8+75 (10)
Score: 79–64 (max 80)
I decided, despite being 15 behind, to just go 1 large. I thought with Jono's numbers prowess if I went 6 small and I messed it up I could be 22 behind or even 25 behind which'd mean I'd never catch up. With 1 large I'd probably stay 15 behind and I'll try to beat him on a letters round in the next 3.
Round 11: P X L S I A E L E
C1: expells
C2: ELLIPSE (7)
Score: 79–71 (max 87)
Jono ballses up his spelling of EXPELS and so my gamble paid off, I was only 8 behind now. I needed to keep this gap until the conundrum.
Round 12: B M R I U O Q D R
C1: DUMBO (5)
C2: QUIM (4)
OT: MORBID (6)
Score: 84–71 (max 93)
Damn. Just one round and I decide to declare a comedy four, sorry Kai. If only I'd seen the 5 or 6...
Round 13: D N J O E A I N P
C1: PINNED (6)
C2: PANINO (6)
DC: PINNAE (6)
OT: ADJOIN (6) DINNAE (6) ENDIAN (6) ENJOIN (6) JOINED (6) OPINED (6) PONIED (6) PAINED (6) PANNED (6) PENNIA (6)
Score: 90–77 (max 99)
A pretty flat round so I'm still 13 behind, argh.
Round 14: 8, 6, 9, 3, 5, 7. Target: 402.
C1: 402. 9x8x5+6x7 (10)
C2: 402. (8+7-6)x5x9-3 (10)
Score: 100–87 (max 109)
My plan of 6 small at this point to get back in the match didn't pay off.
Round 15: I F F U D I N O S
C2 buzzes on 1 second to say DIFFUSION which is correct.
Score: 100–97 (max 119)
I nail the conundrum instantly to lose by just 3 points. Damn MORBID/DUMBO. So, yeah, that's right, I bottled it again and I felt more nerves here than I did in the series final - madness.
Well played to Jono who is a credit to the game and thanks to Jeff for an exciting finale to the day.
