1st numbers, only got one away same as Rachel but a far more user-friendly method:

(75+5+4) x5 x2 = 84 x 10 = 840

though I also found (75+2) x (5+4+2) - 5 = 77 x 11 - 5 FOR 842

If you keep posting that it might start being funny.

((75+5)*(2+1)-2)*4

Couldn't do the first or second numbers games. I think the nerves must have got to Jackie, she didn't look particularly comfortable.

"If", "you", "keep", "posting", "that", "it", "might", "start", "being" and "funny" being the operative words.

For 952. Well done, 7 points.

(Btw first and second numbers are impossible, even for Clive Brooker)

Phew, thought I'd been trying to get the wrong target. It was 956 right? I got 959 within time, so 1 closer.

If anyone cares, that was: 75+5 = 80, (4+2)*2 = 12... 80 x 12 = 960, -1 = 959

EDIT ... can make the 12 from 4*(2+1), leaving 2 left over, 960 -2 = 958

I got 958 by doing:

(2 + 1) x (75 + 5) = 240 x 4 = 960 - 2 = 958

I didn't have a bad day playing along in the studio, although having checked my notes after watching it back today, I did much better at home than at the studio!

Slightly disappointed at the end too, as I was the only other person in the studio who got the conundrum, but I always knew that if someone else had got it, they'd go to them.

EDIT: Also interesting that they edited out that DC got ONSHORE in round 8, as well as ROOTLES. Puzzled me slightly, but there you go.

Does that sound silly to anyone else? Of course your going to do better at home.. you've already seen the entire program.

It might sound silly to you, Andrew, but sometimes you think that's what I got when I was there, then you look back on your notes and then think to yourself, "Christ, I did pretty shit back then!"

Having said that, it's nice to know that at least I'm improving in some way or other, I suppose.

To be fair to James, when watching myself last week there were numerous times that me on the show beat me at home. :P

I got GULLIED in round 12 which is arguably a more likely word than DC's GUILTED.

Pretty straight forward really, the show has to run for 36 minutes. If it runs longer then something has to go. We can't chop the rounds, so DC and other non-crucial parts of the show are the obvious places. ONSHORE and ROOTLES come out all the time, no big loss.

I must be missing something. I am beginning to find more & more of the numerous hypercritical (anal)lytical and frankly pointless posts boring. To relieve the monotony I went out in the rain to weed between the slabs. It was a lot more fun. Some people should try it. (not my slabs - they've been done - get your own)

I believe there are other websites available if you find this one boring.

Perhaps James's continual need to make pointless posts simply in order to boast about having been in the studio is filling the gap left by Martin Gardner, who felt a similar need to shoehorn the words "in France" into every single post.

Sometimes, just occasionally, the sequels surpass the originals.

It could also be a euphemism for trimming his pubes, there's so many options.
