What was life like pre Beetles in music? has anyone a favourite musical artist

Beetles first appeared around 140 million years ago, so it's unlikely there was much music before them, ignoring the music of the spheres and so on.
And yes, I believe some people do have a favourite musical artist, although the question appears something of a non sequitur.

Not the insects, Charlie. He clearly means the VW Beetle.
I believe Vera Lynn's first "greatest hits" album came out about the same time as the car. Whether that's better or not depends on your point of view.

A timely post seeing as 92-year old Vera Lynn's album has just reached number 2 in the British charts!
There are some great channels on YouTube for listening to rare old tunes from before the time they mostly start from on the radio, such as this one:
