Was it my imagination or did today's challenger fail to score a max on any letter round?

Susie declared AREOLAR as a six today too, maybe she was trying to spare the contestants feelings.

You're right the only maxes he scored were the first 2 numbers rounds

Surely she was just declaring AREOLA, not noticing that you could add the other R.

I like it when Susie talks about nipples :)

Given Jim has posted the recap with OPIATED as the only 7 in one of the later rounds I guess that means PATIOED is not in. No PATIO as a verb - shame.

Yeah I would have risked PATIOED. I'll make note of its valid anagram

I'd have risked PATIOED last Friday in round 8, but when I discovered then that it wasn't valid, I hope I'd have remembered and not risked it again today.

Am I the only one that thinks PATIOED sounds stupid then?

Oh and I do so love it when they stick horse racing on, who watches that shite without betting on it? Why don't they just leave it on in bookmakers and spare the rest of the population.

The thing that gets me about dropping Countdown for sporting activities is Carol's inconsistent attitude to it.

For years, she's moaned about Countdown being taken off when C4 has decided to show cricket occasionally. But last year and this she's welcomed the break.

I would have thought you could say "I patioed my back garden in may" but no, it's not in the dictionary. It's easier to use that in a sentence than it is to use opiated.

You could make virtually any physical object take -ED in that sense.

Funnily enough I suspect my father is the one person in the country who does watch the horse racing without betting on it.

I did think it was a bit crap though when they cancelled the days racing for a day due to the weather (Tues or Wed if memory serves) so showed the pundits talking bollocks to fill the time. I'd have thought they might have squeezed it up a bit and given us, if they had nothing else, an old special or perhaps an old series final. All that racing stuff when there wasn't any racing even bored my father into submission.

I'm voting for "patioed" is sensible, same point as Martin already made. Sorry Craig.
