CONOT 2009 games

Post by Kirk Bevins »

I thought I'd start a topic off where you can post some of your classic games. I'll start off with the final game of the day - game 6 where there was me on 5/5 wins and three others on 4/5 wins (Dinos, Paul and Kai).

Bad miss from Kirk there.

Round 2: T N M I U O V E M

C1: MOMENT (6)
C2: OMENTUM (7)
Score: 0–14 (max 14)

Nice spot from Dinos takes him 14-0 up. Ouch. Is Kirk going to bottle another CO-event yet again?

Round 3: M N D E I A L D O

C1: MELANOID (8)
C2: MELANOID (8)
Score: 8–22 (max 22)

A high probability darren doesn't close the gap...

Round 4: N Y T O A A T R E

C1: ATTORNEY (8)
C2: TREATY (6)
OT: NATATORY (8)
Score: 16–22 (max 30)

But a not-so-high probability 8 does!

OT: ROQUET (6)
Score: 43–49 (max 60)

Round 9: B S X U A I P C E

C1: AUSPICE (7)
C2: PUBIS (5)
Score: 50–49 (max 67)

And Kirk is in front for the first time in the game. This is turning out to be a classic!

Round 10: 50, 75, 100, 9, 10, 2. Target: 963.

C2: 127. (6/2)x(10+5-4)+100 (10)
Score: 85–83 (max 109)

And it's a crucial conundrum to decide the winner of CONOT 2009. Whoever got this would win CONOT 2009. If nobody got it, Kirk would win the event.

Round 15: T Y R E F O R C E

C2 buzzes on 1 second to say REFECTORY which is correct.
Score: 85–93 (max 119)

Dinos comes from behind on 1 second, slams his hand down on the table and excitedly writes REFECTORY on his sheet of paper to frustrate Kirk once again.

A really good game with some good spots and bad misses, but I'm not bitter....honest

I think it's good that these games are documented and there are only two games to go (game 1 and game 2). I'm happy to do both but I want to see someone elses game as I'm sure people that read this forum are sick of seeing games involving me.

People will get something completely different soon, as I intend to do all of mine. Then everyone will see what life is like at the other end of the scale. But I need to see one from each of games 1 and 2 first, as I don't have the correct order for the scrambled selections.

Yes please, Dinos. PM me the selection orders for all the games, and I'll recap the ones I was involved in, including ours. :)
