Street View thread
Because it came up in another thread, I've decided to start this one.
Here's a pic of my regular pub, and if you happen to be passing on a Tuesday night, feel free to drop in and take part. We do have an octochamp member of possibly the longest-serving team at the quiz, but I keep forgetting to ask him his full name!

Ian's link works for me, but when I try yours, the pane where the actual street view is supposed to appear is just blank.Jon O'Neill wrote:I was gonna do this, but I couldn't be arsed. Anyway, my mum is on StreetView:

Re: Street View thread
There's no way I'm putting my current address on here, but this is where I lived in Edinburgh. I tried looking up to our third floor flat but there appears to be some sort of parallel universe up there. Anyway, AFAIK some hot lesbians live there now.
Re: Street View thread
My area just has the odd photo. I reckon that this one, of Hatfield town centre is the closest to my home:
http://www.panoramio.com/photo/953227
Understandably there are plans to redevelop the town centre, although whether it'll happen till the economy recovers is debatable.

Re: Street View thread
Weird. Last time I looked, StreetView was available for most of the surrounding streets but not for mine. Now it's not available for any of my area at all. How odd.
Update: Double hmm. Nothing available for Manchester at all, not even city centre. Some kind of glitsch, I'm guessing.

Well I didn't know that. Re: Street View thread
Street View is giving great entertainment...
One woman is filing for divorce, having looked at her best friend's house and noticing her (the first woman's) husband's car outside.
A driver of one of Google's vans got upset when people started taking photographs of him, which he called an invasion of privacy(!)
Another driver got threatened by residents when he turned up.
One guy was clearly identifiable as he walked out of a sex shop. (In theory individuals are supposed not to be identifiable - but one of my work colleagues is clearly visible outside our building - haven't found him near a sex shop yet though.)
And all the time, I hear this radio advert telling us how important it is to inform on terrorists who might be acting suspiciously taking pictures of buildings etc.

Ludicrous isn't it - they banned trainspotters for a while taking pictures of trains and also banned them from posting information online about nuclear trains in case terrorists could use that information. What a load of shite.Kevin Thurlow wrote:

Time to resurrect this thread, I think.
Following Jono's mum's appearance on Google some time ago, is it now Damian's turn???

Just to clarify, I'm talking about the guy crossing the top of the road, carrying a rucksack, not the one mowing the grass.

My siblings' flat is on there.
My house isn't on there.
My mum's house is on there.
My dad's house isn't on there.
My nan's house is on there. But only an angled view due to a tree of rowan.

Most definitely not me. This man is clearly mincing down the street. Also, i don't accessorize. Gloves, umbrellas, scarves, manbags, rucksacks, anything of that ilk is totally off limits for me. And you're right, he's not smoking.

Fair enough - I must admit there are angles from which he looks far more like you than the one Phil picked out (although the blurred faces make it tricky in any event!). And I accept you may not accessorize, but I'm sure I've seen you with a rucksack in the past - but maybe that was just a phase.D Eadie wrote: Most definitely not me.
