Hmm - just seen timing of this tournament could be awkward - on holiday 3rd April - 18th April.

If I can play my QF before 3rd is there any chance deadline for completion of SF can be 19th April - should I win the QF that is?

Your favourite maybe. Eadie, Hurrell and Laddiman all remain in the tournament, and they're all pretty much Kirk-esque on Apterous.

BTW it would be cool if you edited your original post and put the winners in bold type there, rather than making new posts in the thread. Easier to find that way.

Wonderful! I'm still feeling crap, but better than yesterday, so tomorrow should be even better. :)

P.S. I sent you a PM on Monday, so as not to bore everyone else with our scheduling.
As it's still in my outbox, I supposed you haven't noticed it. Sorted now, though. 8-)

Thanks, Kevin. You were leading for ages. Then I risked ULULATE, thinking the first might be a double L.
And a crucial conundrum. Great game, could've gone either way. 8-)

Next I'm playing Kai. Not much chance of getting any further!

Aaaahh!!! The pressure!!

I'm saying that as the only series champion in the draw and the only one who does Countdown for a living, Damian is the favourite. Plus, he's already in the semis.

But, the smart money's on me. ;)

We managed to get as far as the first ad break before the game crashed. It's a shame, because it was of a high standard. And because I was winning 43-38. I can't get back on at the moment.

We fixed it so that I maintained my 5 point lead after the first numbers (good sportsmanship from Tom to suggest it). The actual score would therefore be 110-73.

If anyone's interested, we both got SUBMARINE in the first round, WITHER in the second and I forget the rest of the letters. I led by virtue of the first numbers which was a stinker of 8 4 9 6 7 7 -> 757. I now realise I could have got it, but instead got 763.

Draw for the semis.

Damian Eadie vs James Hurrell

I believe the Hask is on holiday so we may have to wait for him to return. However, Kai and Martin, whenever you fancy really.

Still a 1 game format.

For what it's worth, I think one should only be allowed to play words whose definition one knows. That would mean the competition is more about vocabulary than who is the biggest word-absorbing robot.
