Hello and welcome to another Tuesday recap, today is national Canada day. So let's pay tribute to those famous people from Canada that are well known in the entertainment business and sport.

Cliff Thorburn is a former snooker player from Victoria British Colombia, his nickname is The Grinder for his notoriously slow and determined play. He became the first overseas player to win his first and only World Championship in 1980 but fell victim to the Crucible Curse in 1981 losing his semi-final to the eventual winner Steve Davis. He became the second player to make a televised maximum break but the first one to make a 147 at the 1983 World Championships before losing a one-sided final to the eventual winner Steve Davis. He retired from the sport in 1990s but still remained active on the snooker scene until he played his final competitive match in 2022.

Michael Ironside is a Canadian actor hailing all the way from Toronto with over 270 film and television roles he is well known for playing anti-heroes and villians. One of his earlier roles was the 1981 horror flick Scanners and the 1982 slasher movie Visiting Hours. His breakthrough role came in 1984 where he played in cynical anti-hero Ham Tyler in V:The Final Battle and the ill fated V:The Series where he appeared in 13 episodes. His most successful role was in the highest grossing film of 1986 Top Gun as LCDR Jester, other well known works of Michael Ironisde include the successful Sci-Fi action flick Total Recall ,Nuremberg as the strict jailer Colonel Andrus Starship Troopers and The Perfect Storm. He still remains active as an actor and voice over artist, away from acting he is a regular at Comic-Con events talking about his career.

Canadian songtress Celine Dioni is from Charlemagne Quebec she was one most of the unlikliest winners of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 representing Switzerland that gained her international recognition. Dubbed as the queen of power ballads for her powerful vocals,

Bryan Adams is from Kingston Ontario he is a singer songwriter and photographer

Eric Monkman is a Canadian Academic and TV personality from Oakville in Ontario, he is well known for his exploits on University Challenge, viewers described him as the most intense contestant ever: a reviewer called him an "unexpected hero". He captained his team Wolfson College to the final in the 2016-2017 season where they lost to Balliol College. After University Challenge he forged a TV career with felllow contestant and occasional DC guest Bobby Seagull presenting many shows together.
Parts of Canada have been used for filming TV shows and movies such as The X-Files, the 1982 flick First Blood and the 2000 mini-series Nuremberg chronicling the Nuremberg trials
