Christmas is just one week away from today, and I'll talk more about Colin's sweaters tomorrow (for those who don't pay attention to the Intro, what do you mean you didn't notice him wearing different ones each day?) We've also got Brett and Ben not just on-screen, but also in the Daily Chat on Discord albeit watching from the sides while this show was being broadcasted. The former says excitement is with him rather than nerves given how Mark probably made him sweat last week, while the latter says let's give pressure anyway, I'm the #3 Seed anyways, you should have expected to meet me here! Brett can laugh with Colin now, but the fun stops once the match starts here, it's dead serious as the fight for the other Grand Final spot begins!
First Third: Nice start with EARWIGS in R1 (shoutout to Conor in the Daily Chat who spotted SLIPWARE though), and what a shameless plug by Colin for his appearance in "The Great Pottery Throw Down" last year eh?

It's Ben who gets ahead not long after, with Brett not having the FAINTEST idea that word was in R2! Brett does not go 4 Large here as he probably knew doing so and missing the target would make him worse-off here, so 1 Large it is and it's too damn easy for both to handle! "STOP THE COUNT" as Ben shouted in the Daily Chat, too bad we can't hear him
Second Third: The selection in R4 was so tempting to have a nine but it didn't. Unlucky to Ben who had underlap and the scores are now not UNPAIRED with Brett allowing it to go to a dead heat! The next round, there really now is a nine, and come on, both contestants got it, excellent spot!

Hang on, Ben decides to gamble now and go with 6 Small for R6! But, once the target "980" was there, and you have "9", "8" and "10" as numbers, the solution is staring at your face, let's pass on this one even though both now have more than half a century of points! Into R7 after the anecdote about Cilla Black where Christopher surprisingly couldn't remember anything except for that one funny song. Wow, just wow, Brett spots LIONHEADS in R7 and roars ahead just like that animal (Just a note, Jase Cullen played along and he would have gotten this, and I know the actual word means a fish like what DC said, but you get the idea...). Both try to OUTVIE each other in R8 next, but it fails, and with Brett playing safe again with 1 Large in R9, I give up (I had the Omelette Method for that one, and don't ask me why I went for that way and failed to spot the easy way like both of them did). Looks like a double century game could be on the horizon after all!
Last Third: Nice reference for both Teatime Teasers to the Carol "The Holly and The Ivy", although I'm sure if you got the second one's answer you would have been left groaning like me. It's still neck-and-neck with both contestants spotting the two eights in LINEMATE and MELANITE in R11! FASHION is so trendy this Christmas in R12, thanks for reminding me of that and the difference is still only 18 points going into R14. Big choice but no big numbers, this is it, 6 Small for the last selection. Uh oh, double "1"s usually means trouble, but not here as the target is small. Oh no, no, Brett misses and Ben has the solution!!!

The crucial conundrum prediction from Colin yesterday comes true and with that as well, we have a double century game, marvellous achievement!

Comeon Colin, stop giving praises now, you can save them for after we know who wins. Here comes the crucial conundrum, gosh the atmosphere brings me back to Series 90's Grand Final last year already. Is the answer the SUM of an ENIGMA of this episode? I'm guessing not, with many of us in the Daily Chat solving this easily, with one of us even pointing out that was their audition conundrum for the show! I got this easily because I like Chemistry, but whoever solves this will win the battle! Two seconds left, Ben buzzes in, does he have it??!!! NOOO, he doesn't with a made-up word of meganiums, allowing Brett to slump in his chair and cry tears (yes, that actually happened according to him and I only noticed it after rewatching the recording carefully. You could tell his pose was different after the camera cut away when the time was up plus I bet there were bits and pieces cut out before Rachel said the answer; kudos if the crew actually stopped filming to allow him to recover), for he's now in the Grand Final!

Game of the series IMHO.

Yes, could easily have been a tie-break and best game of 2025 with one to go.
I correctly predicted like Colin, this game would end in a crucial conundrum, with Brett coming out with a less than ten point margin against Ben with the conundrum foxing both. Turns out both of them scored exactly as what they did in their Quarter-Finals, talk about coincidence! Forget about the game where Angus Faraday faced Brett Davids, this, as per Colin said and perhaps all of us can agree, was definitely the best episode of 2025 (as of now, if the Grand Final can be as good as this, then I'll be happy to take those words back). Wow, as Ben agreed with me after the show, it was almost as if watching Max Verstappen catching up to Lando Norris in F1 Terms for the Champion Title, only for the latter to win in the end. Maybe not a slow-burner as in here, but it really could have swung either way. This game will definitely live on for a long time and it's in no small part thanks to you. All the best to your podcast and I can't wait what you'll comment on come the next F1 Season. The lights may have gone out on you here, but I'm sure it'll be shining brightly on the tracks wherever you'll be saying your words!
And so, we're back to the "1-2" arrangement for the grand finale. In a few hours, who will emerge victorious tomorrow to lift the coveted trophy to end off not just one heck of a Series, but also one heck of a year it has been? Will it be the businessman Jase or the dentist Brett who will claim the prize and can display it in their office proudly for half a year? Will this end as close as the Series 90 Grand Final a year ago and will an upset happen? They are champions in the making, but only one can win. Don't go anywhere, let's watch this last episode together!
