So we are back to Birmingham for the summer-and not in the suburbs this time! As has been since 2023, two back-to-back events as we all go on a summer holidays to the Midlands. Tis I, MSR, pulling stuff together, with the able help of Beachy and other chums.

Date-On Friday 01st-Saturday 02nd August 2025. Friday it’s CoBrum Warm-Up, 2 rounds, 4 games each. Saturday is CoBrum Main Event, 4 rounds, 8 games each.

Format-Lincoln-style for both.

Venue-Two different venues for each. **Please note the correct venue**

WARM-UP/The Wellington, 37 Bennetts Hill, Birmingham, B2 5SN. Same place as 2023. Room at the very top.
MAIN/Cherry Red’s Cafe Bar, 88-92 John Bright Street, Birmingham, B1 1BN. The Bosta Room

Playing 9-round games of Countdown, in tables of three, ‘Lincoln’ style. After the four/eight games in each, the two players face each other in the grand final. Prizes for Podium on Friday, top 8 on Saturday, and some others depending on budget. First round is randomly-drawn. All other rounds, you’ll face players on the same number of total wins (Birmingham-style drawing…Yes, I’m calling it this, fight me!). This should result in some good, well-matched games.

Admission-£5 for Warm Up, £15 for Main. £20 for both. It has gone up, but there’s an element within. Minimum Spend at Cherry Red’s-Venue for the Main has Free Hire, but a minimum spend requirement of £400. Break even is 26 for the main, so more the merrier.I will try and do something with that to arrange food/drink. If not, rest assured any money will go towards future tournaments.

1. What are the timings (start times in particular) for each day's events?

2. Is there a Facebook event page yet?

3. Why do you have a leading zero on your dates (01st and 02nd August) but then inconsistently not have one on your warm-up entry fee (£5 instead of £05)? :P

Relevant things will be forthcoming when I'm not sat in Daz and Rich's spare living room about to go to sleep. But to be clear...

Dates have a leading zero. Because they do. Money does not. This is correct by international law of 'because I said so'

OK was about to book advance trains for this but can't find timings. What time are you finishing on Saturday?

Edit: found timings on focal page. https://focalcountdown.com/birmingham-2025/

Edit2: Are you able to take payments yet?

Note to self-just because they're on your spreadsheet doesn't mean they're on c4c. You berk.

Decent fields though. If you want to make them even more decent (ish-depending), then do sign up!

OK, thanks. But I do think these things deserve an explicit mention rather than just giving people the means to find the results of any tournament.

Dylan Taylor beat Tim Hebbes in the final.
