The lack of Apterites is interesting. I remember a previous series where it was rumoured that at least one Apterite had been pushed back into a later series. I was speaking to someone recently and it seems it might have happened to him...

There's been a few, most notably Jon Stitcher who's been an apterite since the
dawn of apterous!
More surprising is that we have two previous finalists in the finals!

They might have decided to lock the series down once it had reached a certain point without any of the 900+ brigade.
