Rob: PARDONS (7)
DC: INROADS (7) ASPIRIN (7)

Sevens all round...........a couple of 8s missed by all.........Poniards was the one that I spotted

RR: 679. (100 − 75 ÷ 25) × 7 (10)
Score: 15–22 (max 26)

What a great 1 away solve from challenger Rob that gives him a brief lead for now.............but if pay attention to your 7 times tables.......Ms Riley gets to produce a perfect 10

Teatime teaser: ITELLRAY -> LYRETAIL

Round 4: T R E F L U A E T

Paul: FLATTER (7)

Paul: SALINE (6)
Rob: SALINE (6)
DC: ASININE (7)
OT: VAILENSI (8)
Score: 28–35 (max 42)

Sixes all round in this rather tight contest........but Susie gets to shine with her 7 Asinine..............one rather interesting 8 with Vailensi that nobody spotted

Round 7: R S G A O I R W O

Paul: ROARS (5)
Rob: ARROWS (6)
DC: ROOIGRAS (8)
Score: 38–51 (max 60)

Our champion Paul isn't exactly roaring with laughter as his 5 is Roars...............Our challenger Rob is throwing caution to the wind with his 6 Arrows..........over in DC they come up with a badass 8 Rooigras.......something I have never heard of !

Image

Image

Round 8: H E A P T O N B T

Paul: BATTEN (6)
Rob: PHONATE (7)
DC: batphone PHAETON (7)
Score: 38–58 (max 67)

Another good round for our challenger Rob that extends his lead further.............you can't have Batphone as it is specified as two words

Image

C1: -
C2: -
RR: 972. (8 + 1) × 2 × 6 × (7 + 2) (7)

Not easiest of 6S as neither contestant can solve this..............Rachel says that 1 away is as good as it gets........this was one that I solved but in a different order

6*2=12
7+2=9
12*9=108
8+1=9
108*9=972

Otherwise known as the Omelette method !

Paul: FITTED (6)
Rob: DEFICIT (7)
DC: FETICIDE (8)
OT: DIETETIC (8)
Score: 38–65 (max 82)

Another cracking round from challenger Rob with his 7 Deficit ............not a pleasant 8 from DC and our recap writer Feticide

Feticide : Is the act of killing a foetus, or causing a miscarriage

Round 11: D J L U I O R N U

Paul: -
Rob: JUNIOR (6)
DC: RUIN dijon
Score: 38–71 (max 88)

DC: ARSENIDE (8)
OT: ANSERINE (8) NEARSIDE (8) ADRENINE (8) SIDEREAN (8)
Score: 44–85 (max 103)

A very risky 9 that does not pay off for our champion Paul as Susie disallows it................a fantastic 8 from Rob seals his first win..........there were a few 8s to be had.........no extra points if you can spot most of them !

Round 14: 50, 4, 9, 1, 5, 2. Target: 706.

C1: 706. (9 + 5) × 50 + 4 + 2 (10)
C2: 706. (9 + 5) × 50 + 4 + 2 (10)
Score: 54–95 (max 113)

A piece of piss this numbers game that bags our champion and challenger 10 points each...........we have a new champion in Rob........but sadly for Paul it is game over

Round 15: L O G I N B L E W

C2 buzzes on 1.5 seconds to say BELLOWING which is correct.
Final Score: 54–105 (max 123)

A super speedy conundrum solve from our newest champion Rob, I have a feeling that we could see him over the coming days, secondly take nothing away from Paul he will satisfied with his 5 wins and the teapot, possibly a place in the series 90 finals.......who knows ? Join me for the next recap in the meantime it is bye for now !
