Welcome to another Monday recap, as we are in Olympic week , XXXIII otherwise known at the 2024 Paris Olypmics is just around the corner ..............lets enjoy some of the best Olympians

Former track and field legend Carl Lewis who won an impressive 4 gold medals : in the 100 and 200 metres, Long Jump and the 4*100 relay where he anchored his team-mates home in 1st place at the LA Olympics in 1984. Carl Lewis retired from Track and Field in 1997 after bagging a final gold medal in the long jump at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Our British pairing of Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent arguably one of the most successful pairings in the coxless pairs, winning in 1988 and 1992. Steven Redgrave has won an amazing 5 Olypmic golds and only man to have done so in an endurance sport,he retired after the 2000 Olympics after he diagnosed with diabetes he was knighted in 2001 for services to rowing. Matthew Pinsent won an amazing 4 Olympic golds before reitring from the sport in 2004 he was knighted in the same year for services to rowing, he now works for the BBC as a commentator.

US Swimmer Michael Phelps is most successful and decorated Olympian of all time, he has an impressive 28 medals.......he holds the all time record for the most gold medals in any sport he has an impressive 23 Olympic golds, he broke the 1972 Olympics record of former US Swimmer Mark Spitz who had seven first place finishes in his sport Swimming.

Last but not least, and just for fun on the 29th July 1984 was the start of the LA Olympics, with ITV choosing not broadcast the summer Olympics it became embroiled in a ratings war with the BBC. ITV aired the the cult Sci-Fi TV Series V which became an instant hit and the outright ratings winner with many households tuning in to V because they were bored of the Olympics........I managed to stay up late as I had the luxury of a TV in my bedroom at the time.
