Countdown comes to the Fylde coast for the 6th time!

I am delighted to announce Co:Blackpool is all good to go for this September. For those of you who were able to attend last year, we will be at the same venue, where we will have our own private room and access to the bar. There will be plans announced from Friday evening through to Sunday morning to accompany the event, including karaoke and amusements.

Date: 14th September 2024

Venue: The Wainwright Club, 173 Hornby Road, Blackpool, FY1 4RD https://g.co/kgs/2twz3uC

Admission: £8, payable here https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/bradleyhorrocks/8

Hosted by: Bradley Horrocks

Doors open: 10:45 (please don’t arrive before this time)

Good afternoon everyone, I’ve just heard about the events of yesterday and am horrified, even more so given that I intended to attend until Friday morning when a member of my family was taken ill who remains in hospital. I’m glad that everyone was ok and sending my thoughts and prayers to everyone caught up in this horrific act of terror.

Sorry to hear about your family member in hospital, Rosie.

There's nothing wrong with what you've posted, but with my moderator's hat on, for the benefit of anyone else who may read or post here, I'll repost below what I wrote on the Apterous ticket. This is for reassurance and to remind everyone to be careful what they post.
Anyone reading this in isolation, unaware of what happened, might understandably be worried about it and fearing the worst.

So, for context, and to reassure everyone:

Everyone's OK. Yesterday morning at the start of Co:Blackpool, a player was assaulted by an uninvited guest. After welcome intervention by - in chronological order - Callum, others, and Lancashire Constabulary, the event continued as planned. Thankfully, the player concerned was not seriously injured, and even returned to play after getting some medical treatment.

Nevertheless, I expect (and hope) that criminal proceedings will follow. There are quite strict and complex laws on what can be published while such proceedings are ongoing, including on public forums such as this. So before anyone says anything they shouldn't, I'd advise everyone not to engage in public discussion about specific details that could prejudice any future trial, such as the identity of the offender or other details about them. Suffice to say they were not one of the players at the event.

Hats off to Callum Todd for his incredible bravery in detaining the assailant and everyone one who intervened. It’s scary that small communities like this are being targeted by such terror and hope it is an isolated incident.

Hi Everyone,

Great word play yesterday afternoon.
Now that Bradley has posted the scores, it might be sensible to lock this thread so we don’t chat on about any other matter that happened.

Just to let you all know as not everyone is in the facebook group chat, that we have sent some flowers to the Wainwright Club to thank the bar staff for their kindness on Saturday.

I've used some of the carry over budget from the Brighton/Reading events - I hope everyone agrees this is an acceptable use for the surplus. :)
