FOCAL Belts

Post by JackHurst »

Just a fun idea. If across FOCAL tournaments there were belts different categories like in boxing.

Examples
- Over 40s
- Ladies
- Hasn't been on the show
- Tom (there's enough Toms to justify it)

What categories would you have?

The first two would be interesting, with Countdown dominated by men under 40. Rob would presumably be the inaugural owner of the third belt. Plenty of Toms in contention for the 4th belt.

Probably never going to happen because it's a extra headache for organisers, and a load of faff and discussion around who the initial holders are and how do belts get relinquished.

Well the over 40s tourney on apterous is approaching the final stages - 48 players whittled down to a final between Neil Collins, and Tim Down or Patrick Thompson. Should be a cracker!

I really should pay attention to that now that I qualify for it.

Iron man belt for most consecutive events made in a row - surrendered as soon as one missed

Tag team belts. Partner is picked based on prior relationship to countdown (one person drags the other into the world), couples, people who regularly bunk together etc

Probably shouldn't promote getting rat arsed at all the events but there'd be fierce competition at the beer drinking countdown olympicathon co event events

There is a Venn diagram problem here but I like Over 40s for me

Well that's not going to work, because they won't be there to hand the belt on.

Got some spare budget for Reading (sign-ups well above my break even) so happy to take suggestions for extra prizes ideally that anyone has a chance of winning - more limited in Bristol cos rude words etc aren't really on.

They get attacked in their own home just like someone with the 24/7 title

Will probably have to wait a while before we can get all the Sex Offender's Register Belt contestants together, but there should be a decent entry.

My vision is something like this but of course, Countdown-ized.
