Frank Field becomes the third one from my list to go. Probably for the best really as it can't have been pleasant being so far in to a terminal illness.

Despite his age I was shocked by this. The night prior I had watched a fairly recent debate he had taken part in where he had specifically mentioned a couple of times that he was in good health. Sad times :cry:

It was quite a big deal for me too. I've always thought of Daniel Dennett as one of the "big two" in the philosophy of consciousness (along with David Chalmers), which is a particular area of interest to me. I disagreed with a lot of what Dennett said, and always found him incredibly smug and arrogant, but it's still a sad time for philosophy.
