Euthanasia, isn't it time to decriminalise this

After reading this

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-67756506

I feel it's time for a debate.
As I have said in the unpopular opinions thread, that people should be allowed to choose when they die if they are suffering
Obviously there is a lot of legislation to go through and nobody should be allowed to chose Euthenadia without consultation.
I doubt at 60, I will live long enough to be given the choice but I think it should be on a political agenda by then

When I was a teenager, if I was asked if Euthenadia would be legal before sane sex marriages I would I would have said yes.
That's not to denigrate sane sex marriages but in my family, I saw more people suffer painful debilitating deaths than I saw same sex couples wanting to marry.
Acceptance of people's choices have come on leaps and bounds in the last 40 years and yet a planned suicide is still a taboo subject

Well that was a cheery Christmas watch!

But yeah 100% agree - I can't see any non-religious argument against a terminally ill person of sound mind who is going to suffer a painful or even just unpleasant death choosing a compassionate and humane alternative. We make that decision for our pets, we should be able to make it for ourselves too.

Religion still plays a huge part in our law-making. That's got to go.

It has sloooowly evolved, legal abortions, same sex marriages but euthenasia is the last taboo it would seem

I recommend you watch Truelove on Channel 4 which covers this topic very well
