It's that time of year again and with Christmas fast approaching............you guessed it Countdown finals week.........after gracing our screens for 6 months.......that's right we are now down to our last 8.............Six contestants became octochamps and seven finalists amassed 700 points or more, with Harry Savage being the only 900 club member of this series. So which one of these legends....... will be walking away with bragging rights of Series 88 and the Richard Whiteley memorial trophy ?

Culture Club who were formed in 1981 becoming one of the best selling groups of the 1980s selling over 50M records......their lead singer Boy George was one the biggest stars in the world appearing on the 1984 Christmas No 1 Do they know it's Christmas

Karma Chameleon was the best selling single of 1983 peaking at No 1 and staying for there for 6 weeks selling over 7M copies worldwide this was the biggest hit for the band

I did not see this coming our No1 seed beaten on a letters round.........what a badass 8 from our 8th seed David with Benzoate...........you guessed it I spotted this one..........sadly it is not enough to keep our 8th seed in the game

C1 buzzes on 4.75 seconds to say TURBOPROP which is correct.
Final Score: 118–58 (max 145)

A huge congratulations to our NO 1 seed Harry Savage for making into the semi-finals where he will face Paul O'Brien who is the No 4 seed or George Baker who is the No 5 seed for this series, lets not take nothing away from David who has scored a rather respectable 58 points he can be proud of what he has achieved in his Countdown career he will be happy with his piece of Kryponite........join me again for the next Quarter final recap in the meantime it is bye for now
