Countdown In Edinburgh (COEDI) - Saturday 7th October 2023

Post by James Robinson »

OCK AYE!!! BACK NORTH OF THE BORDER WE GO!!!

Time once again to bring Countdown back to the Scottish capital once again!!😄😎👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Venue:
Our venue is the Carlton Bridge Club, just north of the city centre of Edinburgh. The address is 36B Warriston Gardens, Edinburgh EH3 5NE.

It is about a mile north of the centre of Edinburgh. The 8, 9, 23 and 27 buses take you within walking distance of the venue, which is next to the Goldenacre Bowling Club.

General Overview:
Presented by James Robinson, using the "Bristol" format and playing along with the computer graphics:

We will aim to play five 9R matches, then have 9R QF/SF, then a 14R Grand Final centrepiece. There will be groups after the first phase, and prizes will be available for the top 3 in all groups.

Prices/Rates:
COEDI will take place on Saturday 7 October -- doors open at 9:45-10am for a 10:45-11am start, finishing at around 5:45-6pm. The admission price is set at £12.

There is food and drink available at the venue, including soups and sandwiches for lunch, as well as cakes, and a variety of drinks from tea/coffee to soft drinks, as well as alcoholic ones.

The venue is cashless, so try not to bring any coins/notes, except for the lunchtime quiz.

We also intend on having a meal, but that is still to be sorted out, although the popularity of COSMO last year suggests that we’ll try and go there again this year.

As per usual, payments are available:
- By PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/JRTerrier7/12) (DON'T FORGET - Choose the "Family/Friends" option on payment.);
- By phone (0781 775 0544);
- By cheque (address available on request).

Hi all,

A little update, as it has been a while.😄😎👍

As our numbers aren’t really near the levels I was hoping we might have by now, I’ve made the decision to alter the format to “Bristol” format, as it’s a bit rubbish to have what seems like a relatively small number for “Lincoln” format, and it’s much less of a hassle for me too, as I’ve currently had personal issues, which while not letting me stop hosting the event, have been distracting, and I can’t fully focus on this at the moment, but as there’s less than a month to go, I need to start getting the final bits sorted.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

People have paid up and I’m sure have got travel/accommodation booked, so I still want to make this event as great as possible to all those who are still coming.👍👍👍

Also, I’ve booked COSMO for the Saturday night between 7:30-9pm like last year.🍽️🍽️🍽️

Can I suggest you make the facebook event page so people can invite friends? I went to add a couple of people who weren't on your invite list and was unable to do so. Also may be worth an apto ticket to promote for those who don't use facebook? I'm sure you'll get plenty of last minute takers!

The Facebook page won’t let me change for some reason, I must’ve done something different to last time…, but I’ll get a ticket up on Apto ASAP.👍👍👍

I'm not sure where else to let yous all know but I'll be about 10 mins late because of all the trains getting cancelled - v sorry.

Edit: Looks to be getting worse. I'm definitely on my way, but I probably won't make the first game, so feel free to put Prune in my place
