My game of Countdown

I have decided that I will host a game of Countdown at a date to be determined. I can tell you that it will be a very special game of Countdown that none of you will ever forget.

What do you all think of that?

Oh, I'm sorry, I should have asked, who is interested and who wants to play? I'll make a note of whoever is playing and keep it in mind until the actual game.

You're kidding, Jon.

You can play if you want, but if you do decide to play I will need one more player and then keep both of you in mind until the game starts.

The date of this game is unknown at this time.

I'm sorry Jason, but I need some more information before I can get involved in such a project. How special will it be? You can rate the specialness on a scale of 0 to 10 if you wish.

I should warn you though, I've seen some pretty special things in my time, so a score of less than 8.4 will probably mean that I give it a miss. Others may be less picky, but I'm not easily impressed these days!

EDIT: I forgot to mention, if it's on a Monday, I could be tempted in by a specialness rating of around 7.8. But don't waste my time with anything less. Hope this helps with the scheduling!

So, he's got the info. If you want to know anything about my game, ask him.

What game?

This game will be called "Carey Countdown," and it will be in honor of one of the greatest men in this world. It may or may not coincide with the Million Dollar Spectacular episode that Drew Carey will host this Friday in prime time here in America. But, just to make it more appropriate for this week, the winner of this game will get $1,000,000 cyber.

Fantastic, should be good! I love Jim Carrey! I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

I don't think I could commit until I see proof that you could stump up the cash (what's the exchange rate for cyber dollars these days, anyway?)

That's Drew Carey, the former US Whose Line and current US Price is Right host.

The date of this game is to be determined.

No, it's definitely Jim. I've got several of his films at home, I'm absolutely positive it's Jim.

No, it's Drew!

Those of you that take part in this game, get ready for some Alakazam-laden fun and good discussion about Cleveland, Ohio!

I don't really like Drew Carey myself, I can't watch the US version of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Clive Anderson was much funnier and didn't need to spell his gags out. Everyone knew that the points were awarded randomly, Clive didn't feel the need to say "... and the points don't matter" at the start of every SINGLE show.

Edit: Clive didn't feel the need to play any of the games either.

Sorry Jono, I was so excited by the prospect of this game that I had to go and have a lie down to recover.

However, I'm back now. I gather that it will feature Drew Barrymore and Jim Carrey, with a million dollar prize to the winner (a shame that the contestants are already decided, I could use a million dollars and those two aren't exactly short of a few bob). Still, it all sounds very intriguing.

Ok, Michael is our first contestant. Jon Corby has been disqualified for offending me in a prior post. I still need one more player.

That doesn't sound like the sort of thing Jon would do at all, he's never anything but polite and courteous. Are you sure you're not confusing him with someone else?

No, it's none other than our dark-spectacled friend, Drew Carey. He's a very genuine person, so I think it would be only fair to make the game in his honor.

Sort of reminds me of my heads-up Texas hold'em games with my girlfriend when we start with %20 000 but fictional obviously.

I just wonder about this game... it's not all planted nines is it, because that's been done before.

Hi, my name's Richard Brittain. I deactivated a previous account here, but I just had to make a new account in order to post in this thread. I would love to take part in this very special game of Countdown, Jason. I will make sure that I am available at 8.30 PM on Sunday 24th, for what will probably be the greatest game of Countdown ever.

Hi, Richard!

You're the one who won Des Lynam's first and only season of Countdown, aren't you?

Well, I have some bad news for you. Your opponent in this game will be Dinos Sfyris, and he says he is not available on that day. So, the game has been called off until further notice.

I want to work around everyone's schedule and come to an agreement on the time for this game of Countdown.

Please disregard the above post. I deactivated and then reactivated my previous account here; John is an imposter. For the record, I would not like to participate in this game. It sounds shit.

There were 2 series which Des Lynam hosted, 54 and 55. I won the first and Richard won the second.

Hold on Jason, some loser made an account named 'Richard Brittain'; it is probably Corby. I am Richard Brittain and still wish to compete in this game.

I don't want to play Dinos though, because he is heavily anti-anti-semitic. We have to play at 8.30 PM on Sunday, because this was the specified, special time for this very special game. It cannot be played at any other time, so you'll have to find someone else to play me, because Dinos cannot make it at that time.

I have not and never will have any personal ill-feeling towards those who do not know The Truth, including Dinos. It is not necessarily your fault that your mind is closed to reality. At 8.30 PM on Sunday I will not be participating in your "special" game, nor at any other time will I make myself available for such folly.

Re: My game of Countdown

Well, this is all very funny. The truth is that I am Richard Brittain. I made an account here called John, because I like the name John, and because I wanted to take part in this special game of Countdown. I doubt many people reading this particularly care who the real Richard Brittain is, but if anyone wants proof of my identity they can email my actual email address and I will confirm my true identity. It also isn't my style to have a picture of myself as an avatar. I admit that whoever it is does a reasonably good impression of me, and has obviously spent a lot of time perfecting their act, and it is quite humorous. But it does concern me that this imposter might now go on and say any manner of thing in other sections of the forum, and people will believe it to be me. I still think it is probably Corby, but I have now added David O'Donnell to the list of potential culprits. Whoever it is, I ask that you come clean now.

By the way, I can no longer be bothered to take part in this very special game of Countdown, so you can count me (Richard Brittain) out.

Well, truth and justice has been restored by the moderators. That is, 'John' was and is Richard Brittain. At this time, I am still not certain who the bold impersonator was.
