Champ denied victory by having TANGLIER disallowed. Will he be invited back for another go next series?

Was there an extra R in the round where he declared MATURE? I can't recall.

Anyone got a ruling on whether it's good in premium?

According to the same logic that should have seen PEATIEST allowed the other day, yes

TANGLIER is in the print dictionary. It seems doubtful to me that in recent years sufficient people have moved to saying MORE TANGLY that it's become necessary to remove it.

Also W+HEREIN (and WHEREON in the same round).

And the teatime teaser "Aretha was this, and a true loss to music." which was TRUELOSS -> SOULSTER - I had tourless (not in), which I thought made more sense for the clue!

And it's valid on Apterous so must have been in until recently.

As discussed elsewhere, there is currently a bug in Oxford Premium which is preventing dozens of -IER and -IEST from appearing. They have not been removed per se. They do still in appear in ODP’s database. Without the bug, PEATIEST and TANGLIER would have been accepted. Unfortunately, it looks like this bug, until squashed, is going to affect this series.

Well having bugs like this is probably the closest we'll get to David Williams's idea:
David Williams wrote: Tue Feb 21, 2023 9:52 am I suggest that Countdown should get as many different print dictionaries as they can lay their hands on, and pick a different one at random for each show. This would make no difference whatever to 90% of contestants and 99% of viewers, but it would make the programme rather more fun to watch.
