Event Safeguarding (DBS and others)

Post by Matt Rutherford »

Following from some discussions here (http://www.c4countdown.co.uk/viewtopic. ... 44#p204444)

DISCLAIMER-I have seen that discussions on this topic can get fervent and I know there are divergent views within the community. It needs discussing-whatever your view, a calm and measured approach is the best route forward :)

Discussions were along the lines of event organizers getting DBS check-in my view, a very good idea-and overdue. DBS is a basic requirement for many things involving kids (not so much at CoEvents) and vulnerable adults (much more likely at CoEvents). I'd pay more at a CoEvent if the cost is prohibitive. Taking even small steps does now seem starkly overdue (hindsight is always clear). More could be done, both at events and in the wider community-but this would be a good start.

Further ideas/thoughts on facilitation are welcome (REITERATES DISCLAIMER-Keep the arguing about the dictionary, peeps :P )
