It sounded like PATE (as in a bald pate) to me. I could be very wrong though. Also DC got SPOUTERS in R11. Solid recap, keep it up.

I thought he said FATE and assumed he had misheard and written down an F instead of an S (easily done!!)

I've just listened again. There's no doubt in my mind that he said FATE.

And a very minor comment, again a misdeclaration by Roy. In round 7, he said the singular - SOUNDMAN.

Here we go! The middle of the week, and I can't believe it's come already!

Roy? Half-naked? Why? Margaret Thatcher is a very proper lady, and I never will in a million years think that she would like that!

Round 1: Kai, Kai, Kai! Why would you put down contestants for finding words that are in the dictionary?
Round 2: Yes, Roy said FATE, Kai. I wonder what caused us to mishear him?
Round 3: Lisa, I thought MARRIER would be a word because you can marry people. Well, yes, but it's not in the dictionary. That's what they've got Susie for!
John's Words of Wisdom: Yes, a lion can kill you with just one bite.

Round 7: I think soundmen is two words. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Round 9: I like the fact that Jeff plays along with the contestants. Just because I heard that the Countdown staff is delighted with him, I would give him 7 points just for that word!
Origins of Words: How ironic! A family member of a soccer coach was killed during the Olympics in Beijing last year, and Michael Phelps has been suspended from swimming because police suspected him in regard to possession of drugs. However, Susie, way to look on the bright side!

Lisa is the winner again. Also, I read the post in another thread that stated that they observed Roy couldn't read his own writing. I couldn't see that, but if I have to give Roy credit for anything, I will say that he was a good sport.
