Spoilers for Thursday 14 July 2022 - Colin Murray returns

Post by Philip A »

It’s goodbye to Anne Robinson. Over the next 15 weeks at least, Colin Murray returns as stand-in presenter. Two newcomers play, after Ed Byrne became an octochamp with 969 points, the 5th highest total ever.

The clock starter button has returned; when Anne Robinson hosted, the clock started in the gallery. Teatime teasers are now recycled 9-letter teasers.

Watching this outside of home and I 100% agree with you. He literally injected a large amount of fresh air and his style is SO much different from Anne's one.

Nice to see both Colin and Rachel wearing the set today, though Rachel made a better job of it.

Did anyone else notice that Colin turned Brendan's bit into a general studio chat? Brendan barely got a look in.

Yes. I liked the fact that everyone got involved, but his anecdote was too short. It all got a bit chaotic.

There was also the bit where Colin said that Daemon sometimes played like he'd never seen the game before or words to that effect. He seemed to get away with it at the time, but that sort of thing can fall flat. And also at the end of a letters round saying that he's expecting long words, which could make the contestants look bad. I'm saying this because he was like this when he presented previously and it didn't always look good. He skates on thin ice with his comments.

Agreed. Still a better presenter nonetheless.

Always dig a game where both contestants' first names are valid!
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

I got ROMANISED instead of RANDOMISE. Wasn't 100% sure if the former was allowed, but seems to be ok.

Much better now that the host no longer tries to find ways to embarrass contestants.

I'm surprised DC's round 5 offering was said/displayed without any censorship.

Susie says it's not an insult to anybody. But you could argue that it is an insult to those who actually do wet the bed after ingesting dandelion juice.

Which is factually correct, hence no censoring in this particular case. :)
