Why No Reserve Lexicographers?

Post by Philip A »

Surely I can’t be the only person wondering this.

Why doesn’t Countdown have a reserve lexicographer to sit-in for Susie when she can’t attend filming? Since the pandemic began, the celebrity guest has done the job for her, meaning no Origins of Words. Can’t Lemn Sissay fill in?

We can survive without Origins of Words.

Alternatively the guest could Google some random phrase instead of Susie doing it.

Damian could do it. Would be nice to see him actually put a bloody shift in for once, the freeloader.

Ok then fine, I'll do it. Just don't call me Susie, that would be too weird.

Yeah... it is a bad look having some random dope do the Susie job.
Devalues it, imo.

Also brings into sharp focus that if further cuts were needed, that role could go.
