Not taking anything away from Matt's brilliance, but these one-sided matches are rather painful to watch. Wonder if anyone at the auditions ever mentions Apterous or similar for practice purposes?

Surprised Matt only saw 6 in the final letters. Had he got 7 though I wouldn't have been surprised to see a target of something like 200 in the numbers.

I've not seen any episodes but looking at the wiki it seems Matts first opponent must have been pretty good to score 77 against him given his next 3 opponents have only scored against him in 4 rounds out of 45.

What's the record for aggregate points conceded over an octorun?

Matt's first opponent even led after 12 rounds but conceded 38 in the final 3 to lose by 36. He was very good and looked like octoing until Matt came along.

A few octochamps have had quite a few near walkovers - Elliott Mellor being one I think.

These players all seem like lovely people, but would in all probability lose badly against most average opponents, so in some ways it's good that better opponents who could reasonably expect a teapot aren't facing Matt! I'm bewildered at how they pass the audition (as someone who, as a reasonably competent armchair player, failed mine!) unless they really do suffer disproportionately from studio pressure.

I'm sure there must be plenty of people like me who couldn't live with Matt, but got a seven in round 13 and would have whitewashed the challenger. Low scores aren't particularly related to whether the winner is faultless, it's much more to do with the ability of the loser. If you get a maximum in any round you score points no matter how good your opponent is. If you score zero, or could have scored zero, you didn't get a single maximum all game.
