Co: Galway 2022 11th June 2022

Post by Paul Anderson »

Hi guys

So, I'm tremendously excited to welcome you to the first ever event this far west in beautiful Galway.

Entry fee is £10/€12 and you can reserve your spot here

https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/cogalwa ... Dwio4qsFKo

Date: Sat 11th June 2022, kick off at 11:30am

Travel: you have 3 options for flights:-

Dublin plus train/bus
Knock plus bus
Shannon plus bus

There are many hotels in Galway and all are convenient for the event, which is a few miles outside Galway city centre. Cheaper options are hostels in the city centre. Here's a link to a selection
https://www.booking.com/hostels/city/ie/galway

Friday afternoon/eve we will meet up in the city centre, probably go for dinner somewhere followed by a few pints and some traditional Irish music. If the weather permits, there could also be the opportunity for a pre-dinner dip in the ocean at Salthill beach, so bring your togs.
Saturday morning there is a park run event in Knocknacarra which is on the way out to my house
https://www.parkrun.ie/knocknacarra/
It starts at 9:30am, so you should have time to shower and change before the main event

Format will be Bristol style and we hope to squeeze in as many as 8 games plus a live ZoomDown broadcast for the final.
The venue is my back garden, in a marquee.

We will be providing food vans for lunch and dinner, hoping to cater to the vegan and non vegan market

After dinner, we will be having a house party with live music and karaoke. There will be various sporting competitions such as pool, table tennis, air hockey and darts, so it promises to be a hell of a party. It's also Rachael's 30th birthday, woohoo!

We hope to see as many of you as possible make the trip as you won't regret it.

Looks amazing Paul. Nice work! Great to see a few people making the trip across from England for this!

Hi guys

Less than 4 weeks to go now, so if you are definitely coming, please confirm by sending me your entry fee. Numbers around the low 30's which should be ideal for the draw.
One thing I looked into but that proved too expensive was the food vans, so we will be ordering lunch and/or dinner via the Just Eat app, so please bring some Euro on the day so we can settle the bill. I figured some of ye may want to go back to your accommodation for a bit and the food vans need minimum orders as it's a busy slot for them.
Can't wait

Just watched the final on YouTube- loved the atmosphere of this event, real camaraderie between everyone; well-ran. Sorry I couldn't be there (my passport expired) but next year I should've sorted that out and renewed it so I should be able to come- same with the Waterford event. I haven't been to a co-event yet but from what I've seen, nobody does them like the Irish.

Thank you SO much lads and lassies for coming to the far side of the Emerald Isle for a CD party! I thoroughly enjoyed hosting ye and am relieved to have broken my hosting duck.
Too many of ye to thank but special praise must go to our chairman Todd for travelling so far on a 25 hour turnaround. Respect.
The memories will live long in the mind

Superb event, thanks very much Paul; an incredible job on your first time hosting as well! Hope those going to Waterford enjoy the rest of their stay in Ireland. And congrats Robbo on a brilliant performance all day.
