That's how you play if you play on easy mode. Some of us prefer a bit of a challenge though 8-)
I've also abandoned picking a 'good' word to start, it was getting a bit monotonous. My aim is now to try and get it in 6, with 5 fully grey goes before. I started today with BLINK for example.

I generally try and play Quordle on hard mode (although self imposed rules). After my first guess, if there is any of the 4 sections which is totally grey, I can guess 5 new letters. Otherwise, I need to pick a section and play it on hard mode (although the section can change each time).

Easy mode is just the better way to play. People select "hard mode" because of the name presumably so it makes it sound better. But if they renamed the option "Force me to play with poor tactics" I wonder how many people would select it. Also it might be harder to win on hard mode because it forces poor play, but it's not necessarily harder to play. There's less scope so you're forced down a narrower path with fewer options.

I find playing on easy mode so monotonous though. Once you get a method nailed on, just fire out the same 3/4 starting words and you're done.

I find it more exilharating to introduce a bit of jeapordy. I've only failed once* 'hard' mode, so I'm either very lucky or their are tactics involved to a greater extent.

The word was TASTE, I essentially got to my final guess, knowing it would either be TEASE or TASTE, plumped for the wrong one. (May have been the other way round).

Have yis tried this one? The idea is to not get the word. Bloody tough. Haven't got one yet. At least it's not daily.

There's parkrundle where you have to get the name of a UK parkrun. But it's not very good really. The guesses can be anything (e.g. just a load of common letters put together in no particular order if you want) so it makes it a bit different from the other Wordle clones and probably too easy.

I got Heardle, 80s Heardle and 90s Heardle all on the first attempt today. Don't think I've done that before.

Do many people even still play wordle? I haven't played it in months because it quickly got boring, and I've not really heard anyone speaking about it recently. Definitely feels like the hype has died down.

The hype has definitely died down. I still play it but the average time of day has got later, suggesting it's not as much of a priority.

Felt like wanting to say because I only found out yesterday that Spotify has officially acquired Heardle. As an American hopefully this'll mean I'll get to use my VPN less since there have been a few times when the song wouldn't be available in my country.

Every morning I play the NY Times daily Wordle, each evening I play Wordlegame.org, yesterday, rather spookily, both words were the same!!

I always use the same start word, and once on Wordlegame.org it was THE word!
I thought I was good at Countdown until I joined this forum

If you get the correct word first time on Wordle it calls you a genius. That's the last thing you are, you're either very lucky or a cheat. No skill involved.
