Hardback

Post by JackHurst »

Hardback is a deck building word game, available to play for free on board game arena:
https://boardgamearena.com/gamepanel?game=hardback

Here's a link to a YouTube video explaining how to play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nor9ybOHJo

Rob Foster suggested I take a look at this game, and since I did I've been hooked. I would be great to see some keen word game players on there!

(Note that the default dictionary 12Words is piss poor, but you can disable it in your settings and then you will never have to play a game with it on. If you play with people you know, you can also do self adjudication and revert to Countdown dictionary if you prefer)

I played this a few weeks ago with some friends and enjoyed it. I've also played Paperback (an older game by the same people) with the same friends and I think they'll be more keen to play Paperback in future because we felt the deckbuilding element was more important than the anagramming in Paperback, thus playing less into the hands of the once-obsessive Countdown nerd than Hardback.

Would be good to see you on BGA for a game or two :)
