I remember watching Hart Beat when I was younger, it was a brilliant show.

Sad.
He inspired so many.
I'm old enough to remember 'Vision On', and sent in a picture for the gallery (didn't get in), even though I was never very arty, even as a child.

How ironic that he had a show called 'Art Attack' and that might be what killed him...

That's out of order. He died from a "Take Hart" (someone took his heart).

It is very ironic I had just lost my father to a heart attack when this programme started and was a watcher of early Hart programmes and wondered the thinking behind the shows name.

But it is always your own expieriences that colour your thoughts.

No mention of Art Attack in there apart from an admittedly slightly ambiguous quote from Wilf Lunn, who is either getting it confused with one of Hart's shows or (more likely) is simply saying that such programmes owed their existence to the fact that Hart had shown the way much earlier. Art Attack was ITV's attempt to produce an equivalent to Hart's shows which were all for the BBC.

I got 'Art Attack' from this article, but now having done some further research, have to concede that this was an ITV show and nothing to do with Tony Hart.

That means my initial pun doesn't work and I will have to withdraw it.

It also means that I have to apolgosie to you for inisisting you apologise to me.

But it doesn't come easy.

You could have mentioned that Tony Hart was well known for his brush strokes, which is ironic as it was a brush with stroke that accelerated his decline.

This is sad news. And what I found sadder yesterday was that it wasn't mentioned in the BBC evening news bulletin or on News 24 (for the period I watched). There's gratitude!
I'm not artistic, but the show was still so appealing to me, and his lovely calmness and enthusiasm.
The obits I saw didn't mention Wallace and Gromit, but didn't Nick Park start out working with Tony?

Tony Hart was an incredibly talented individual. I used to watch his programme all the time when i was a child.

He will be missed.
