Good see-saw of a game today. Bet Jonny will be kicking himself for missing 260 and the last numbers, as they'd have seen him over the line.

Did Nick say he had beaten a 5 times winner to get there?

Yup.
Presumably by the transitive property of "beating at Countdown".

Interesting chat at the beginning about the direction of time. It's weird that we use the terms "forward" and "back" both ways round.
Earlier times at the front:
- school exercises telling you to put letters "in front of" a word to form another word
- bringing a scheduled action or event forward, or pushing it back
- holding back on doing something
- sense of "before" as "in front of"
Later times at the front:
- looking back at the past
- backdating
- back issues
- probably every description of time travel I've come across
- looking forward to something
I'm sure there are others....

It's a bit like the way the TV guide on Sky/Virgin/probably all others starts with the lowest-numbered channels at the top.

Jonny might be someone who has a weirdly unique record....
His only win was against someone from Barnsley, and his only defeat was against someone from Barnsley....
