Come on everyone, it’s time to vote for Countdown to be the best UK game show EVER

Last year, Ben Justice, a question setter and game show creator compiled a list of his top 100 UK TV game shows ever, and shockingly omitted Countdown from the list!!!

So, a few weeks ago, he decided to ask the British public themselves to name their Top 100 shows, which he then put into 5 groups based on the decade in which the shows were originally broadcast, which you can see here: https://youtu.be/MTOURlOgEUk

And as you can see here: Countdown made it out of a very tough 1980’s group, and is now in the semifinals!!!

If you look towards the end of the results of the heats video, you can see that Countdown is in the second semifinal against tough competition such as The Chase, Pointless, Fifteen To One, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, University Challenge and Taskmaster.

Luckily, the Top TEN in each semifinal move forward to the final phase, but you can vote for up to EIGHT shows in each semifinal, and you vote sort of Eurovision style, by giving shows 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points.

The fact that this guy created a Top 100 and didn't include Countdown is enough to undermine any of his subsequent output.

Interesting update....

Semifinal 2 (the one with Countdown in it) has been voided due to numerous spoilt ballots, so it is being redone for 24 hours, with only one vote per Google account.

Only the one involving Countdown’s group, the other one has only one minor irregularity, so that wasn’t seen as dodgy.

Apparently, a lot of people just voted for one show, rather than voting for 8. I voted about 5 times, but every time, I did do votes in all the boxes. It’s open until 6pm tonight is the new vote.

Countdown came joint 10th, along with !mpossible. Only Connect was the winner.

Nice to see during Christmas that Countdown was voted Channel 4’s best show from the 1980’s, during the Back to the... series of shows.
