I thought that too for a moment! But I listened to it again and now I'm not so sure.

But on the whole it was an excellent piece by Susie. So "haitch" is a hypercorrection based on the idea that to say "aitch" is a dropping of the H - when in actuality there was never meant to be one there in the first place.

But one French-based affectation that gets on my nerves is "restauran". Invariably said with English 'r's instead of French ones, which perhaps makes it even more ridiculous.
