Improvements in the global south might enable us to surpass 80, but I'd be amazed if we got much further than that.

With all the greasy fast food and takeaways that people seem accustomed to nowadays, I'd be extremely surprised if it was.

Some people are definitely gifted with a very limited amount of brain cells.

There's already loads of 80-year-olds roaming the streets.

Not sure who you are addressing @Ian Volante (oops in FB mode) but I was saying that the oldest living person curve is likely to rise expediently.
Not sure why Gev was fixated on 80 year olds though

I don't think your post really addressed what Marc was saying. Marc was talking about 120-year-olds roaming the streets like zombies. It doesn't really have anything to do with the global average. I mentioned 80-year-olds because you seemed to suggest it was around the limit, but we're talking about the age of people roaming the streets, not a global average, as I say.

But anyway, to address Marc's point, people have dementia anyway, and if it's bad enough they don't just go roaming round the streets, so I don't think we'll reach a point where 120-year-olds are roaming the streets like zombies.

Marc said he expected people living to 100 to be the norm, which I think is fairly interpreted as more people doing that than not.

Sure, but in the context of the discussion the exact proportion is not really that relevant. Globally even less so. It was about there being enough older people around for there to be 120-year-olds roaming the streets like zombies.

Although I do think people will live longer as surely it won't be long before artificial hearts and other organs and bones will become normal my 120 year olds roaming the streets like Zombies was stolen from Ricky Gervais Armageddon
