It might just be me but both of the given answers for Numbers 1 are wrong I think.

i think C1 is right it's just they should have an extra pair of brackets somewhere.
C2 is definitely wrong their's totals 321 but he maybe meant to take away the 21 instead of adding it-he added the two sets of brackets when he should have subtract them

Indeed - in both solutions, an addition was done instead of a subtraction - corrected now.
