Dinos was unlucky there with tetragon. A good game though - a closer match makes for more exciting viewing!

The word "Tetragon" is in my Shorter OED (Fifth edition, 2002) and even in my Concise Oxford (Seventh, 1982).
I wonder why SD did not allow that word.

Cos it's not in the dictionary Countdown uses!

Annoyingly I had tetragon and two other words disallowed and missed the 9s, so lost today despite getting the numbers
(first one alt (100+9+1)x(10-6)-10; last one alt 2x75+5x7).

There's different versions though. They use the online one but the subscription version so the free one is only an approximation.

Never seen a contestant get a 9 in his first 5 games.

Countdown uses Oxford Dictionaries Online. TETRAGON in not in https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/searc ... y=tetragon , presumably because it's rare and QUADRILATERAL is the normal term.
