Dr Phil tells the story of his trip to Leeds and how he managed to only get two hours’ sleep and was confused with Richard Hammond by avid autograph-hunters at 3.30 in the morning. He then proceeds to eat his hotel-supplied Crunchy Nut Cornflakes with Viagra-assisted plastic spoon and says they’re “ludicrously tasty, apparently”. I was in the audience for this tale and thought some of it might get edited out, but not a bit of it – good stuff!

Teatime teaser: COILSPIT -> POLITICS

Did anyone else think the clue to the first TTT was ludicrously obscure? Other than that, I'm absolutely delighted to see Dr Phil back for another set of games. He's not only one of the most entertaining of all the regular DC guests, but (unlike Sue Cleaver) seems to be genuinely playing the game - I'm pretty sure that he got INCURVED without requiring help from Susie.

Muat admit I did think it was a bit obscure, but quite clever. Personally, I think it's good to have a mixture.

He's a thoroughly nice guy, too. We had some good chat, on- and off-air.

Doesn't C2's numbers ((4+4)x8)+(9x6)-9=109?

C1's solution was funny for this round, desperately fumbling around when it was obvious there was no way he was going to reach his declaration. Especially as he'd done it the day before and got called out of time!

Ta da!

Round 1: I thought COPS was a word, but not POLICES!
Round 2: That was the "chewiest" word Lynne could think of, indeed!
Round 3: Of course they could walk, they both have a good "footing!"
Round 4: Denis, one r and two l's! Do you have the "Kim syndrome" from yesterday?"
Dr. Phil sure had a late breakfast!
Round 8: Lynne, you've proven that you can trample Denis. Fantastic!
Origins of Words: Why am I not surprised?
Teatime Teaser #2: Have any of you ever heard of a couch potato?
Round 11: Players, aren't you glad you "spotted" that word?
Round 12: Denis, we won't "forbid" you to make that word! Don't worry!
Conundrum: Nobody outscored anybody! It was a close game!

Great job, Lynne!

The recap for yesterday mentioned the loser today would have made the finals had he lost with a score of 62 or more - is this right? Because if so, that's an impressively near miss.

Yep. He was pretty disappointed in the Green Room but I think Patricia, the #8 seed, was mighty relieved that she hadn't taken a 12-hour train ride from Scotland for nothing.

Yep, that is right. His cumulative total was 331 and Patricia's was 332. If they had both been on 332 then Patricia would still have qualified having had the highest individual game score. I think that may be why Denis stuffed up the first numbers because he was probably very aware of the importance of every point.

There's always one eagle-eyed sod, isn't there? It should be correct now. And, impressively, it's already correct on the Wiki.

How awesomely hardcore. Did they tell him before the game that's what he needed?

At least Des mentioned Denis was a good sport, and I agree with him.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he knew. The team definitely knew. I'm surprised Des wasn't prompted to comment on it actually.

Cheers for that one one Kate. I'm very up on my nursery rhymes and got it straight away 8-)

Jason POLICE is also a verb eg. He POLICES the city so POLICES is acceptable.

Also I guess it may refer to different police forces.

You're definitely not alone Mike. There are very few recappers who don't make a mistake from time to time when writing down the numbers solutions. Indeed, I've just put a recap onto the wiki and had to change three of the numbers solutions. It's the section I always check most, because, from experience, it seems to be the one where most mistakes creep in. :)

You're welcome. I didn't realise Damian was letting others loose on the Teasers these days!

I take it that you're responsible for checking most of the recaps that end up on the Wiki these days, Howard? If so, keep up the good work!

Dame was busy interviewing for a couple of vacancy's in the Team which had come up... you may have read about them!So he let me loose on them temporarily. Now the jobs are filled I think he'll be back teasing you all!
