Shaky start for Steve. No doubt was kicking himself at this moment. Early days though.

They must have been hiding behind the OKAPIS.

Nice RETAINS+1 to warm the players up in R1, but unfortunately Steve hadn't learnt it (or didn't spot it).

"Completely different" in 1st numbers is (7x10-4)x(4+1).

Now Steve definitely kicking himself after a silly risk followed by an excellent numbers steal. Only 11 behind though, not over yet.

Why shouldn't it be? Arrogate is a verb.

That's two huge blows in 3 days, first Brendan Rodgers is staying! and now Jo Brand (with her painfully unfunny made up words) is going to be on to spoil the rest of this series!
GOONLESS was one of the worst risks I think I've ever heard! maybe he was thinking of GOONERLESS, as at White Hart Lane!

Well done Gerry, congrats on making the final four at least. Well done also to Steve for making the quarters.

A very close contest to end the first "day" of the finals recordings. Nice also to see Zubair get his 3rd mug in just over 6 months too. ;) :) :D

PASTICHE in round 5, IMPIOUS in round 8 and RETABLOS in round 13.

An there's me with only one mug but they wouldn't let me answer!

They wouldn't let any of the rest of us answer either.

Zubair has the lucky tag of not being a contestant on the show yet....

Big congrats to both players for making it so far through (especially now I know what it takes). Perhaps Steve was a bit daunted at the thought of playing Gerry and only settled down once he scored his first points. Even then, I wonder if Steve was kicking himself for "GOONLESS" since, without it, he could have taken it to a crucial conundrum. Maybe I was influenced by being in the presence of the Apterous elite (Apterari?) but I actually did pretty good this game (albeit from the safe sanctuary of the studio audience). TRAINERS / PIVOTS / 330 / TRAILED / CHAPELS / 453 / SALOONS / MAFIOSI / 996 / ROASTER / WOMEN / DEMOING / BLOATERS / --- / SADDLEBAG (< 10s)

Apterites is the common term, David. Although, I do quite like that term you've created there. :D

Ironically most of her words are valid on Touchy Words.
