Erm, don't you mean me, Jordan??Jordan F wrote:Join Tracey for the recap later.
P.S. For those of you wondering why Mark Davies was in the audience yesterday, it's because his wife is today's challenger.

In the SHARKS round (8) I though wouldn't it be nice if SHAKIRAS was a beater. I didn't realise I almost had it right but for two vowels switched

Well I will - ODE3 only has lowercase v, ODO has uppercase V in the title but lowercase v in the example sentence.Zarte Siempre wrote:Interested that no-one has made comment about Vaseline yet.
There was an alt 8 there anyway and also an 8 in the "OUTSETS" round.

Yeah, and there is a verb as well, which uses the lower case too.Tony Atkins wrote:Well I will - ODE3 only has lowercase v, ODO has uppercase V in the title but lowercase v in the example sentence.Zarte Siempre wrote:Interested that no-one has made comment about Vaseline yet.

VEINLETS as the alternative in that one, and TESTUDOS in the "OUTSETS" round. ENCOMIA in round 13 too.
2nd Numbers Alt.: ((75 + 1) x 7) + 6 = 538
3rd Numbers Alt.: (100 - 9 - ((75 + 50) / 25)) x 7 = 602

To clarify, it also uses it in the example sentence as opposed to the entry. It's a weird one, but it's explicitly listed with a capital, so I'd say it's out. I'm not sure if example sentences count as the rules.James Robinson wrote:Yeah, and there is a verb as well, which uses the lower case too.Tony Atkins wrote:Well I will - ODE3 only has lowercase v, ODO has uppercase V in the title but lowercase v in the example sentence.Zarte Siempre wrote:Interested that no-one has made comment about Vaseline yet.

It was allowed in OED3, presumably as a verb as there is only one type of vaseline (or Vaseline if you prefer).
