Round 1: T O U A G V K S E

David: OUTAGES (7)
Callum: GOUTS (5)
DC: VAGUEST (7)
OT: VOETSAK (7) VOGUEST (7)
Score: 7–0 (max 7)

Oh dear, a bad start from Callum, as he misses one of the most popular 7's in recent times..........

VOETSAK is a South African term meaning "Go away!" :P

Round 2: H L I A U G M E T

David: GIMLET (6)
Callum: HALT (4)
DC: MEGALITH (8)
Score: 13–0 (max 15)

And it's even worse for Callum, as he can only muster a 4, while David goes 2 better, and DC go 2 TIMES better :!: :!:

Round 3: 25, 5, 4, 10, 2, 5. Target: 615.

David: 615. (5 x 5 x 25) - 10 (10)
Callum: 615. (((5 x 4) + 5) x 25) - 10 (10)
Score: 23–10 (max 25)

Well, he might've got his 25 a slight odd way, but it looks like Callum has settled down now. :)

Teatime teaser: ELFRESTS -> FRETLESS

Round 4: B S P A E R W O I

David: BOWERS (6)
Callum: waspier
DC: SOAPIER (7)
Score: 29–10 (max 32)

Well, the letters still aren't there yet for Callum, as waspier get buzzed away by Susie. :P

Round 5: G L T A O E Z L C

David: lacto
Callum: COLLATE (7)
DC: GELCOAT (7)
OT: COLLAGE (7)
Score: 29–17 (max 39)

Well, a role reversal seems to have taken place in the studio, as David gives a 5 (which isn't in anyway), and Callum gets a 7 to get right back in it. 8-)

Round 6: 25, 6, 7, 4, 10, 3. Target: 630.

David: 629.
Callum: 630. (6 x 4 x 25) + (10 x 3) (10)
Score: 29–27 (max 49)

Well, Callum is making a big turnaround now, and he now finds himself just 2 points behind David now. 8-)

Martin talks about how to put the SAD FART principle he mentioned yesterday into practice.

Round 7: R D Y U I E S N F

David: FINDERS (7)
Callum: FINDERS (7)
DC: REFUNDS (7) FUNDERS (7) INSURED (7) FRIENDS (7)
OT: DENSIFY (7) FUNDIES (7) INFUSED (7) INFUSER (7) REUNIFY (7) UNFIRED (7)
Score: 36–34 (max 56)

FINDERS, FINDERS, and then lots of money related words from Martin. :P

Round 8: T S R U O E G T D

David: ROGUES (6)
Callum: ROUSTED (7)
DC: TRUSTED (7) GROUTED (7) DETOURS (7)
OT: DOTTERS (7) DOUREST (7) DROGUES (7) GOURDES (7) GROUSED (7) GUTTERS (7) OUTSERT (7) ROUGETS (7) STOUTER (7) TESTUDO (7) TODGERS (7) TOUTERS (7) TRUDGES (7) TUTORED (7)
Score: 36–41 (max 63)

Plenty of 7's, but none of them are spotted by David, as Callum takes the lead for the first time today. 8-)

The GOURDE is the basic monetary unit of Haiti, equal to 100 centimes.
An OUTSERT is a piece of promotional material which is placed on the outside of a package, publication, or other product.
ROUGET is a French term for red mullet, used especially in cookery.

Round 9: 50, 9, 8, 5, 5, 8. Target: 748.

David: 750. (8 + 8 - (5 / 5)) x 50 (7)
Callum: 750. Not written down, but didn't tell Nick...........
RR: 748. ((9 + 5) x 50) + (5 x 8) + 8 (10)
Score: 43–41 (max 73)

Ouchy, the forgetting of saying 3 little words have cost Callum the lead for now, but I hope they won't come back to haunt him later............

Teatime teaser: VERYSURE -> RESURVEY

Round 10: T X D A U N A E T

David: TAUNTED (7)
Callum: TAUNTED (7)
DC: UNTAXED (7)
OT: ATTUNED (7)
Score: 50–48 (max 80)

Both contestants seem to have TAUNTED each other, but Martin seems to be happy that he's UNTAXED. :P

Round 11: M S P I O A J S L

David: SPOILS (6)
Callum: SPAMS (5)
DC: PSALMS (6)
OT: LIPOMAS (7)
Score: 56–48 (max 87)

To the victor goes the SPOILS, as it says, but it's not game over yet, and David will still need some more to win this match. :)

A LIPOMA is a benign tumour of fatty tissue.

Susie's Origins Of Words talks about the origin of "sent to hell in a handcart".

Round 12: D P H E O S M U D

David: HOUSED (6)
Callum: PUSHED (6)
DC: MOPEDS (6) MUSHED (6)
OT: DOUSED (6) DUMPED (6) EPHODS (6) HUMPED (6) MOSHED (6) MOUSED (6) ODEUMS (6) POSHED (6) PSEUDO (6) SOUPED (6) SPUMED (6)
Score: 62–54 (max 93)

Plenty of 6's here, but the gap remains at 8 points going into the final letters round.................

In ancient Israel, an EPHOD was a sleeveless garment worn by Jewish priests.
In ancient Greece or Rome, an ODEUM was a building used for musical performances.

Round 13: S N R E I A S D T

David: TARDINESS (18)
Callum: STRAINED (8)
DC: RANDIEST (8) DETRAINS (8) SARDINES (8)
Score: 80–54 (max 111)

WOAH! WOAH!! WOAH!!! Almost as with UNDERLAIN yesterday, this 9 seems to come from nowhere, but yet again, David has come up with a miracle word which knocks out Callum, and gives David his hat-trick.................   :o :o :o

Round 14: 50, 25, 10, 7, 10, 3. Target: 435.

David: 437.
Callum: 435. ((10 + 7) x 25) + 10 (10)
Score: 80–64 (max 121)

Well, Callum claws back some points, but it's already too late for him now, but is it going to get a tad crueller............ :?: :?: :? :?

Round 15: G O U R D N I T E

Callum buzzes on 1.75 seconds to say DETOURING which is correct.
Final Score: 80–74 (max 131)

OH NO :!: :!: :( :(  Callum does indeed get the conundrum, but that just means that he will now be on a one-way trip to Torturesville............. :(

A loss by just 6 points, due to forgetting to declare that you hadn't written down a method, and coupled with the bad start have cost Callum this game, especially when you consider he got 9 maxes (3 more than David got :!:  :o ), and in the rounds he didn't max, he scored NO POINTS :!: :!: :!:    :o :o :o The game can certainly be cruel like that sometimes................ :( :(

It seems that David has now used 3 Get Out of Jail cards, but surely, he'll be out of those shortly. Join Anthony tomorrow to see if his vendor has restocked them for him.

So, I'll be back next Wednesday for another double bill. Till then, bye bye. ;) :) :D  8-)
