My first spoiler thread of the new series sees James Wall on 4 wins and trying to make a solid case to be the first finalist already of the series. He'll probably need at least a 5th to be in consideration. Can he do it though?

Join Callum for the recap later.

I must be a great feeling to get a 9 on your very first word. Well done Sue.

What's the point of a new dictionary if it doesn't have new words like laggiest in?

Alt 2nd numbers (50+3)x(10+1)-6+4

Glad one of the contestants finally solved a numbers game and a tricky one too - bet James is annoyed at missing
the two 9s.

Atomies also available in R10 as an anagram of atomise. After James retook the lead it looked like Sue would lose after starting so strongly, but fair play for coming back and getting that final numbers game.
Apparently INTERLUDE and BANDOLIER both have a conundrum difficulty of 8/10, so not easy spots (I only picked out the latter).

43,000 search results on Google, which isn't many at all given the size of the online gaming community, and it's not in Chambers, Collins, Cambridge, Merriam-Webster or MacMillan dictionaries either.

The dictionary doesn't just go on usage anyway. It's far more likely to introduce words that make good press.

That cost me my MAX game today actually, mainly cos I had no safe 7, but ah well. I was so sure laggier was in, so thought laggiest must be in........... :P

DEWATER in round 4, HOKIER in round 8 and ATOMIES/AMOSITE in round 10.

1st Numbers Alt.: ((((50 + 4) x 3) / 2) x 9) + 1 = 730
2nd Numbers Alt.: (((50 x 4) - 1) x 3) - 10 - 6 = 581

LAGGY itself has 1,380,000 results, more than ten times that of OMNISHAMBLES, which was clearly only added for publicity reasons. So despite all this extra publicity it got for being added to the dictionary, it still isn't anywhere near. It seems that with words that aren't publicity-friendly, the dictionary is a bit laggy.

Pity James went out. I'd say he was probably the best looking male contestant since series 67 ;)

Liked Rachel's one-woman effort to promote the usage of split multiplication :)
