People with a joint email address. Usually older couples who probably originally set it up on compuserve in 1990. JohnandMarySmith@btinternet.com (or TheSmiths@...)

Has no-one told them you're allowed to have your very own email address now?

I doubt these people had the internet as far back as 1990.

A 10-year-old is 6 years young for Countdown. That’s about the only legit reason to use the phrase IMO.

As for the name, well I suppose changing it shows some effort! But the worst is when it's not even "run" or "cycle" etc. but "activity". I give kudos (essentially likes on Strava for those who have no idea what's going on) to pretty much everything in my feed, but if I come across something like "Evening activity" with nothing to explain what might have happened, it goes unkudosed.
This made me lol. A Gev kudos is awarded entirely on the basis of the activity owner having changed its title from the default. Good to know.

That said, I do appreciate the reliable stream of kudoseseses from you. I just didn't know what they were for until now.

How can you not follow a story that throws up gems like this:
Rooney's lawyer claims WhatsApp messages that would show the leaking of stories to the Sun are on a phone dropped off the side of a boat. He says it is now "lying at the bottom of sea in Davy Jones' locker".

Vardy asks the court: "Who is Davy Jones?"

The judge intervenes.

Family members who gift framed photos of their kids to others. Like, great, another thing to file in a drawer out of sight. I'm not really sure why people imagine that you're going to want a picture of their grinning kid on the wall/mantlepiece staring at you - it just seems like a bizarre concept if you're not particularly close.

Adam Gillard wrote: Wed Aug 10, 2022 2:45 pm People who leave a big gap to the car in front at traffic lights, then edge forward in a stop-start manner while the lights are still red.
I have long wondered about what the optimal size gap is to leave when stopped or moving very slowly in a long queue of traffic. Too much, as you indicate, is clearly inconsiderate and causes the queue of traffic behind to tail back further, but I'm not sure going absolutely bumper to bumper is ideal either as although it shortens the length of the queue while stopped it also slows down the restart and makes it difficult to clear the road in case of an emergency vehicle needing to cut through the traffic, or if there is a bump (which would surely be more likely if everyone's getting as close as they can!)

So I think a gap of a couple of feet is reasonable overall. Bring on self-driving cars that will automatically leave the optimal gap.

It's the default title on Strava (Morning Run, Lunch Run, Afternoon Run etc.) But some people just leave it like that for ages after it uploads (and maybe forever).

The way I have it set up is that when it uploads from my watch, it defaults to private so only I can see it. Then I edit the title and put any comments I want before releasing it to the masses. This is the Proper Way. Otherwise, when people scroll through their feed, they might only see it as Morning Run, and not see it again once you've changed it.

Edit - Fiona replied just before me, but my response covers that too I think!

Guilty, guilty. Can't be bothered to change the units on my watch. Can you not do the conversion in your head, Mr Numbers? And sometimes I have nothing to say about a mundane run. I'm not sure "Easy Flitch Way 8-miler" is any more imaginative than "Morning Run".
Well, on Strava it comes up with whatever units I've got in my setting anyway, but I just find it slightly strange when I hear people's watches beeping at the mile intervals in a parkrun. And when people talk about whether a parkrun is long or short, they're like "I measured it as 3.14 today." Great. That's quite short. It's meant to be 5.

Surely you're used to pacing yourself in km so that makes sense.

My watch is in km, my Edge (used for longer cycles) is in miles. But Strava shows everything in km anyway.

You can change your Strava settings to show in miles if you prefer. Personally I always use km unless I'm doing a race that fits really neatly into miles (e.g. if I was trying to do a 10 mile race in 90 minutes I would set my watch to miles and try do 9:00 pace)
