It's not necessarily terrible strategy. If you're good at numbers but rubbish at conundrums, you want to be ahead going into the conundrum and hope the other person won't see it.

I know what you mean but I don't think it's always a bad tactic. In my game against Jono, I was eight down going into the final numbers and played it safe, because I was convinced that one of us would get the conundrum. With less-practised players, there's always a chance that the conundrum goes unsolved so it's not always a bad idea, depending on how good you are at conundrums and numbers.

True, fair enough really.

I was thinking that the conundrum between two players who aren't like Dylan and Jen for example who the team already know about is usually easier than FORBIDDEN (only one conundrum has gone unsolved this series). But neither of them were doing particularly well on numbers, so to think he could win the round 10-0 was a bit of a stretch, at least in my opinion.

It looked to me as if they didn't have any word at all but thought 'I'll say 4 because I must be able to quickly find one while Nick's speaking' but then couldn't.

A more generous (non-cheating) explanation is that you see a four straight away, but don't bother to write it down. Thirty fruitless seconds later you have nothing, and in a slight panic you declare the four. And then you can't remember what it was.
