Re: Prizes and stuff
I was thinking of something more like the Collins list where each word has a short definition or cross reference etc, so a fusion of dictionary and word list, which would be more suitable for the pencam. Also the Jim/Corby list, while 99% excellent, could do with an audit in some areas like plurals, adjective inflections etc.Gavin Chipper wrote:I'm not sure I follow. I mean, I know there's the list used on Apterous that I think Jim mainly compiled (is that right - I wouldn't want to do anyone out of credit) but it's not official. Maybe that's nothing to do with what you meant though.

Amen. I think when the new edition eventually emerges we should do a proper go-through of it - much like with the Hyper dictionary stuff, but using the existing list as a guide - and try to nail things down a bit more firmly. I'd be up for it, anyway.Charlie Reams wrote:I was thinking of something more like the Collins list where each word has a short definition or cross reference etc, so a fusion of dictionary and word list, which would be more suitable for the pencam. If Jim and Corby both compiled it, then why is it called JimDic?Charlie Reams wrote:I was thinking of something more like the Collins list where each word has a short definition or cross reference etc, so a fusion of dictionary and word list, which would be more suitable for the pencam.
