I think Middle 1, 3 and 6 are House, Brazil and Oysters.

Yes to all except DRC.

Brazil is correct, Ian.
Marc Meakin wrote:Just thought that I would post 2 of my favourite quiz question
1) What is the lowest score you cannot get with 1 dart?
2) What is the shortest word you cannot get in Scrabble?
23 for the first. For the second, how about (including the blanks which is presumably the trick) pizzazz?

Correct

I wonder what would be the shortest word that you cannot get in countdown?

2) In which athletics event is the women's record better than the men's?

I think there's only one W, so 'wow' wouldn't be possible (although I may be wrong about the distribution of letters)

Yes to Ireland, Iceland and Discus. New Zealand, as mentioned is the country.

Obviously it's a bit of a trick question as the women's discus is half the weight, but it's still the only record which in purely measurable terms is further/higher/quicker, etc..

Also the snake question should be indigenous snakes as there must be zoos with snakes in these countries

Surely the shortest word that you cannot get in Scrabble is A (or I), or am I missing something?

I've never really played Scrabble (so may be talking rubbish), but could you not kick off with 'A' or 'I' at the start?

Nope, you have to play at least a 2-letter word, even on turn 1.

Aren't there four countries without indigenous snakes? Those mentioned and Greenland.

Greenland is not a sovereign country in it's own right, Lucy. It is a colony of Denmark. But I'm sure it doesn't have snakes!

Sorry. I thought it had achieved full independence a couple of months ago - but it looks as if they have a way to go yet. Too cold for snakes, based upon my very fleeting visit (to visit a power station) a few years ago!

Didn't they just increase their autonomy? I know they're out of the EU, but are they actually working towards independence? Could be quite a nice country for commercial potential as the ice shrinks.

Edam. Not really quiz material unless you have a round of jokey questions.
