So, he was in Dictionary Corner and he was host in a fictitious game.

Wow!

Des Lynam would be great!

He's a much better fit for Dictionary Corner than you-know-what other role.

Jack Dee would be fantastic.... as would Jimmy Carr... and he's contracted to 4, isn't he?

Amy Lee IS the lead singer of Evanescence yes ;)

And I suppose you have a point about JR. How about Jim Ross then? (He's a commentator for the WWE)

I think Jimmy Carr is yeah, but I don't think he would do it.

Alan Carr would be good in DC too.

I didn't think Alan or Jimmy had already been in DC, but because they already have been on, would they come back on again?

Yes, he would probably be entertaining, as would most of the people on Ben's list, especially David Tennant. I don't think we should restrict ourselves by wondering whether they would be willing to appear on not - Damien might have to worry about such things but we don't.
How about Fry and Laurie together next time Susie needs a break? Or Punt and/or Dennis?
David Tennant - I've no idea whether he'd be any good but the more he is on TV the better as far as I'm concerned.
Ben Miller (not Stiller, Miller, as in Armstrong and Miller)? He's witty and presumably as he was a Physics post grad he should be good at numbers too. As would Brian May come to that.
How about a local Leeds wordsmith - Ricky from the Kaiser Chiefs?
And finally, how about David Tennant?

Those are the sounds Sir Bruce Forsyth or any UK Price is Right contestant hate to hear. They mean you've lost a pricing game.

Anyway, I think anyone who wants Heather Mills in Dictionary Corner has got to be kidding. That's why I spelled out those negative sounds. Heather is not very nice.

Yes- Ken Hom, whose performance was so utterly f**king dire he's never been invited back since.

Hugh fearnley-Whittingstall was good though.

It should be the other way round :P. I don't know how Ken could've been so dire and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall be good. Has Clariss Dickson-Wright (the reamining one of the "Two Fat Ladies") ever been in DC?

I think, if people could understand her, Nancy Lam should be a guest on DC :D.

HFW is god, stop arguing. Clarissa has been in, and I think Worrall-Thompson has too. Mike's site should be a bit more conclusive than my foggy memory.

Admittedly though, HFW's stint was overshadowed by the fact it was the finals of series 48, and we all know what happened there...

After checking up, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall was on the Celebrity Countdown series too where he played against Loyd Grossman and won.

Series 48 was when Julian Fell won, but I can't remember the game .

Boris Johnson, would only need to extend filming by a few hours. He could use it as a factfinding mission to see how a city with an apparent annual budget of 78p gets by.

Anyway I don't listen to the radio but I guess there's probably a few candidates there who've not been unearthed yet. Maybe someone who plays/played snooker (obviously Dennis Taylor has been on a few times) as they tend to be fairly bright, give a good account of themselves etc. Cricket likewise to some extent.

Wayne Mardle - the best entertainer in the sport of darts. With his bright shirts (and a mention of Countdown in his autobriography --- and also a mention to Jon O'Neill in there too) he'd liven the show up even further I'm sure!

Keith + Orville, haha.

Alastair Campbell and Chris Barrie, so we could see them outside their usual roles. Alastair Campbell is very witty so I've been told.
Richard Wilson (of One Foot in the Grave fame)

Melanie Sykes.... you'd have Des & Mel all over again. Comedy out-takes to follow for sure.

haha above.. Robert Mugabe.. that'd never work, all the letter selections would be fudged and it'd be 5 weeks before the result of the game could be announced.

What about Mr Methane.. that'd be a blast, haha.

Well, not the one I am seeing at this moment. Martin "Just William" Jarvis.
When I used to watch Mind Games I thought Michael Rosen took it all far too seriously and almost sulked on occasion.

I don't remember him sulking, but he did take solving the puzzles rather seriously, which I myself, see nothing wrong with that. He mightn't be that serious though on Countdown.
