A mate of mine has spent the weekend in the town of Muff, Co. Donegal, where the annual festival is taking place.
Sounds like a fun weekend, where everyone enjoys being in Muff. You might even fancy going diving.

This reminded me of a sentence I read in Sherlock Holmes today:
"She pulled a little handkerchief out of her muff and began to sob heavily into it."
What does muff actually mean here?

Pervert.
Amusingly, I thought I'd try google image searching first. I wasn't successful.

It's a big furry thing which some ladies have, and they put both their hands into it to keep them warm.
Hope that helps, Jono.
I remember as a kid often playing with my grandmother's muff.

My grandma's muff was so well used it had gone bald.
