Best fluke

Post by Charlie Reams »

It's always fun when you make up a random word and it turns out to be in. Here's my favourite example.

Needed this one to fend off a disturbingly adept prune.

I speak about 4 words of Dutch, one of which is hemel as I come from Hemel Hempstead. I believe it means heaven.

Because it's a conundrum.

I remember Paul Gallen getting SUNDRIES thinking of SUN-DRIES. That was a bit jammy.

I had a shocking round recently, and couldn't see anything apart from COPIES. I hadn't seen it in terms of "copies of a document" though, I was declaring it as the plural of COPY (pronounced koh-pee), thinking a copy was some sort of animal or something.

I remember letting that through on the basis that I liked it, rather than that I thought it was remotely fair. Certainly not the only example of that, either.

Was this http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/COYPUS what you were thinking of?

Haha, no, I wish it was that sensible. I've never heard of a COYPUS before as far as I know, and I was literally hoping it would mean something, the animal thing was pure optimistic speculation.

This was a hopeless guess which amazingly worked. And then Velvet went and buzzed in on 0.7 seconds - talk about being HEARTLESS...

This is mine. Came up in a hyperunlimited duel and only meself, Paul Howe and Raccoon got it. I remember seeing APPARA- thinking that seems like a plausible prefix before thinking "Nope the rest of the letters don't make any sense I'll just pop them in in a semi-random order!"

Here I picked S for NARIYALS and nearly missed the 9! Also I got a new goatblitz personal best, although I don't think I'dve ever seen that we could've picked RAUWOLFIA! http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=245407

edit: I should point out it has the letter pickers the wrong way round

Easily the biggest fluke of all time.

An idiot like me leading Chris Davies from start to finish:

And then being just a conundrum away from doing 2 in a row:

When I used to play bullet numbers all the time, I often took massive guesses that put me in the right place. I might have a look for some good ones.
